Barbara Weber: HispanicThe first painting Barbara did for Bernard Publishing was ghost-painting the face and hand of the picture on the right for Gene Sterling. ![]() After that she painted a matador she called Don Jose. The interesting thing about this painting is that a friend gave Barbara some acrylic paints. Barbara started playing with them and found the only way to achieve skintones was by using the Old Masters' technique of glazing colors. This is how Don Jose was executed. ![]() Then she had to paint Carmen, the lady in red, the same way. She painted the lady in yellow to match up with Gene Sterling's Matador.
